Last Friday we flew to Minnesota for a belated Christmas celebration with Erick's family. For us traveling with two small kids, it was great to avoid the busy holiday rush at the airport. Both times the airport was easy to navigate and neither flight was full, giving us extra space on the airplane (always a plus, especially with kids). In a way it was nice to spread out the holidays and celebrate Christmas again.
The other great part about visiting Minnesota is seeing so many friends. We were able to get together with Erick’s childhood best friend and his wife at their house after all of our children were in bed—which made it easy to catch up without chasing babies. Our other friends that lived in San Francisco with us moved back to Minnesota a year ago. This trip allowed us to see their new (and beautiful) home and meet their newest baby and also have them meet Simone. The kids played so wonderfully together, it was great to see them become fast friends. I’m really looking forward to watching them grow up. Since being home Jeff even made a card and sent it to his new friend, complete with heart stickers because “me love her and she loves me!” TOO CUTE!
Another thing we love about being in Minnesota is our proximity to both Minneapolis and St. Paul….and having family to watch the kids so we can go out! Almost every evening when the kids were in bed, we’d sneak off to go out to eat, see friends or go shopping sans kids. We even got Erick a new winter jacket, his old one (and pictured vest) had paint and grout on it from his renovating our new ski condo and his first commissioned tile gig!
We had a great trip and both kids traveled so well, it’s got me thinking about adventuring again….
